TAMK Student's Handbook

International Business - information for new students

Congratulations – you have been selected in the next intake! You are warmly welcome to join the TAMK community and start building your future. This page has information, guidelines and schedules, which help you in getting started. Please read these instructions carefully.

This page was updated on 26 March 2024. Please come back in the beginning of August to check the latest info before the Orientation Days!

Start of studies

The orientation studies for all new International Business (IB) students will start

  • in TAMK Main Campus, address Kuntokatu 3, 33520 Tampere,
  • on Tuesday 27 August 2024 at 9.30
  • in the Main Auditorium Room D1-02.

There will be IB Student Tutors waiting for you in the old Main Lobby (address Teiskontie 33).

Orientation Days 27 - 30 August 2024

The Orientation Days are mandatory and the best way to get started with your studies. You will meet with everyone in your study group and get to know each other, talk to the key people in building your future: your student tutors and teacher tutors, other lecturers, the head of your programme, your study counsellor, TAMK social counsellor, student union members and many more. You will also get to know various TAMK/TUNI electronic services which you need e.g. for enrolling on the courses, and you will see and hear about our facilities and services.

Communication

Microsoft Teams (later Teams) is an important communication channel during your studies at TAMK. Therefore, it is very important that you have access to it already before the Orientation days!

In order to join your group's Teams, you first need to activate and authenticate your TUNI user account. Other instructions will be published here later.

Curriculum and credit transfer for prior Bachelor's studies

Take a closer look at your curriculum (new curriculum to be published later) to better understand your study and learning goals. The individual descriptions of courses include methods, teachers, timing of the course within the academic year, evaluation criteria and exam types.

This information is especially important if you wish to transfer credits for some previously completed higher education courses, since you need to propose the substitution and discuss the matter with your study counsellor.

If you have questions about accreditation or credit transfer, it is best to contact your Study Counsellor in advance to avoid the rush during the orientation days.
