TAMK Student's Handbook
Entrepreneurship and Team Leadership - information for new students
Congratulations – you have been selected for the next intake! You are warmly welcomed to join the TAMK community and start building your future. This page has information, guidelines, and schedules, which help you in getting started. Please read these instructions carefully.
NOTE: Possible contingency plans (due to Covid19) will be updated as necessary. Please follow up on this page on regular basis for any updates.
In the first week, you will be offered comprehensive information about your studies as well as different kinds of services and support provided to you by TAMK. These Orientation Days take place 16 - 19 August 2022.
Studies start on Tuesday 16 August 2022 at 10.30 in TAMK Main Campus (address: Teiskontie 33) in auditorium D1-02. There will be student tutors in the Teiskontie lobby to guide you to the right place. Please read carefully "Orientation Programme" (further below) for important further information like schedules, places, etc. before coming to campus!
Microsoft Teams (later Teams) is an important communication channel during your studies at TAMK. Therefore, it is very important that you have access to it already before the Orientation days!
In order to join your group's Teams, you first need to activate your TUNI user account. From this link, you can find the necessary information to do it. There are also instructions on what to do in case you don't have a Finnish bank account. After you have activated your TUNI account you can request to join Entrepreneurship and Team Leadership 2022-2023 | Guidance and tutoring Team. Remember to use your new account when logging in. You’ll be accepted to the group at the latest by the day when your orientation will start.
Please inform well in advance if you are not able to join your study group at TAMK physically from the beginning of the studies (for example due to Covid19-related travel restrictions or any other valid reasons). Checking your original school certificates, work certificates, and other official documents will be extended until you are able to be physically present on campus. Student selection is always conditional until the originals have been compared with the ones sent in the application stage.
Orientation days are mandatory for all students, and also the best way to get started. You will see and hear about our facilities and services, meet with everyone in your study group and get to know each other, and talk to the key people in building your future: the head of your programme, your tutor teacher, other lecturers, your study counsellor, TAMK social counsellor, student union members and many more.
Please check the following Orientation Programme (file below) for important information on Orientation days and how you should prepare for them.
Take a closer look at your curriculum to better understand your study and learning goals. The individual descriptions of courses include for example course content, the timing of the course within the academic year, evaluation criteria.
This information is especially important if you wish to accredit some previously completed higher education courses since you need to propose the substitution and discuss the matter with your study counsellor Tanja Verho (tanja.verho [at] tuni.fi) during the Orientation days. If you have questions about accreditation, it’s best to send an email ahead of time to avoid the rush during the orientation.
