Application process in detail
Select the Master's degree programme you wish to apply to. Carefully read through the general eligibility criteria and the programme-specific eligibility criteria and see whether you meet them. Applicants who do not meet the general and programme-specific eligiblity criteria will not be selected.
Check which application documents you are required to submit and make sure to obtain them in time. Remember to check if there are any country-specific requirements for your documents. Please note that some documents may be required to be sent separately by a third party. Make sure also these documents are delivered in time.
When applying to a Master’s programme you usually must demonstrate your proficiency in English with an internationally recognised academic language test score. We advise all 2019 applicants needing an international language test score to book a test date well in advance, as test dates are filling up fast in the autumn and it may take several weeks for the test result to reach Tampere University. For further information, please see language requirements.
The online application form will be available during the application period only at Studyinfo.fi. The application period starts on 4 December 2018 at 8 am (GMT+2) and ends on 23 January 2019 at 3 pm (GMT+2). An online application form not submitted by the deadline will expire.
You can only submit one online application form. You are allowed to apply to a maximum of 3 different Master’s programmes. When applying, you must prioritise your programme choices (1-3). If accepted, you will be offered admission to only one programme (the highest prioritised programme that you qualify for). The order of preference is binding and it cannot be changed after the application period ends.
After you have submitted your application you will receive an automated message from Studyinfo.fi confirming that your online application form has been received. If you do not receive a confirmation please contact Tampere University Admissions Office (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The Admissions Office will process your application and check that it meets the general eligibility criteria and that your application contains all the required documents. The Admissions Office will also evaluate the authenticity of your education certificates.
It is your responsibility to make sure that all the documents meet the given requirements and are submitted in time. You will be notified by email if there is anything missing from your application.
The programme may arrange an interview by video, telephone or in Skype. Applicants may receive an interview invitation by email. Therefore, it is important that you keep checking your email regularly during the application period and after. Tampere University will use the email address that you have provided in your online application form.
There is no entrance examination in the English-language Master's degree programmes at Tampere University. The admission decision is made by the faculty organising the Master's degree programme. Student selection is based on the assessment of your application documents, taking into account your
success in previous studies
English language proficiency
motivation to study in the programme.
For more information, please see the admission criteria of each programme.
Even if you meet all the admission criteria, this does not guarantee your admission to the programme.
The admission committees have different schedules depending on the programme and therefore you cannot be informed of your application status during the selection process.
One study place per term provision
According to this provision, a student may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term. This rule applies to all higher education in Finland. Even if you register as absent or give up your study place, you cannot accept another study place starting from the same academic term. This to ensure that as many applicants as possible get a study place every year.
The provision does not prevent the acceptance of a study place in another degree programme during another academic term.
The provision cannot be applied to studies at foreign higher education institutions.
Check the Studyinfo.fi page for more information.
