Language requirements for Tampere University master's programmes

This webpage has been updated for the 2027 admission round. When applying to a master’s programme at Tampere University, you must submit evidence of good command of the English language for academic purposes. You have two options for demonstrating your English language proficiency: language tests or previous studies. You must submit documentation as proof of language skills in both cases. Please see detailed instructions and additional information below.

Language tests

You must complete the language test by the application deadline of 7 January 2027. Ensure the results are sent to Tampere University as soon as they are available. If you have taken the test previously, make sure that the test score is valid at least until 7 January 2027. Please upload your language test results to the online application system. Tampere University verifies all language tests electronically.

Book your language test well in advance as test dates are limited and may fill up quickly.

Exemptions based on previous studies

An exemption from submitting a language test score is only possible based on studies specified and listed by Tampere University as demonstrating a good command of the English language for academic purposes. If you are applying without a valid language test result, carefully review the exemption criteria below. Only studies that meet the stated criteria will be accepted.

The language of instruction for your degree must be stated on your degree certificate, the official transcript of records, diploma supplement or another official document issued by the awarding institution. Detailed information about the required studies and instructions for submitting documents are provided below.
