Juha Teperi appointed as director of the Tampere Institute for Advanced Study

Teperi will take up his new role in August 2021.

MD, Phd Juha Teperi has been appointed as director of the Tampere Institute for Advanced Study for a term of five years. Teperi will take up his new role on 1 August 2021 and leave his current position as vice president for research.

Under the supervision of Juha Teperi, a multidisciplinary institute of advanced study that engages in close collaboration with the faculties will be created at Tampere University over the next five years. The Institute supports the achievement of the University's ambitious strategic goals to further improve the quality and impact of research. The Institute awards competitive research fellowships to researchers from all the disciplines represented at the University without thematic or other prioritisations.

The Institute invites leading international scholars for short-term visits, collaborates with similar institutes and hosts scientific events. The director will be responsible for the oversight and strategic development of the Institute and the organisation of funding. As director, Juha Teperi will also oversee the establishment of an international Scientific Advisory Board, which will support scholarly activities carried out across Tampere University.

As Juha Teperi takes up a new appointment, applications for the position of vice president will be invited after the summer holiday season.
