Tampere University’s next Conferment of Doctoral Degrees will take place in June 2027
The Conferment of Doctoral Degrees is intended for all doctoral graduates from the new Tampere University and from the university’s predecessors, Tampere University of Technology and the University of Tampere, who have not yet participated in a conferment ceremony. To attend, you must have completed your doctoral degree by 29 January 2027.
Registration for the event will open in the beginning of October 2026. The Conferment Ceremony in the summer of 2027 will accommodate up to 130 doctoral conferees, with places allocated in the order of registration.
The preparations for the event are managed by the Conferment Committee, appointed by the President:

The ceremonial conferment of doctoral degrees is the most prestigious of academic celebrations and a time-honoured tradition dating back centuries. The proceedings of the doctoral conferment of Tampere University combine elements of the ceremonial practices followed in the two predecessor institutions. Tampere University’s previous doctoral conferment ceremonies took place in 2022 and 2025.
