Time Higher Education (THE) magazine has published its annual rankings in social sciences, business studies and economics, and education. Tampere University is included in all three fields of teaching and research.

Social sciences improved its ranking and moved up one category to the top 250. Education is also ranked in the places between 201 and 250. Business studies and economics are among the top 400.

After the overall ranking of universities, the magazine publishes field-specific rankings. The top 100 in their field are given an exact ranking while those that come next are grouped into categories.

From Tampere University, the best performer in its own comparison this autumn was psychology, which made it into the top 200 (ranked in places 176–200).

THE uses five measurement pillars to assign a ranking, which is broken down into more detailed indicators. The most important of these are teaching, research and the number of scientific citations.

In THE’s world ranking of universities, Tampere University was ranked in the category of 250–300. Research citations have been the University’s strength in recent years.
