Number of applications to English-language bachelor’s programmes grows by 43 percent

In the first joint application period for higher education Tampere University offered two English-language bachelor’s programmes. The number of applicants was over 2,000 and they represent more than a hundred nationalities

The first joint application period for higher education ended on 18 January. The number of applications was 43 % higher compared to 2022. The total number of applications was 2,732. 

The multidisciplinary Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Sustainable Urban Development continued strongly with its three tracks attracting a record number of 1,584 applications: Administrative Sciences (897), Social Sciences (385)) and Technology (302). The growth compared to previous application round was 41%. 

The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Science and Engineering received a total of 1,140 applications with a 58% growth compared to the previous application round. The programme has two study options of Computing and Electrical Engineering (746) and Natural Sciences and Mathematics (394).  

The number of applicants was 2,073 and they represent over a hundred nationalities. The number of Finnish applicants was 464. The percentage of non-EU and non-EEA applicants was 71 (1,476 applicants).  

The Finnish-language programmes will be open for application in the second joint round of applications organised in the period of 15–30 March 2023.
