From Linz to Tampere: IT:U visit strengthens future-focused partnership with TAMK

As one of the first public universities in Europe dedicated solely to digitalization and digital transformation, IT:U offers a distinctive, project-based and inclusive approach to technical education at its campus in Linz. With a mission to drive digital transformation through education and research, IT:U is quickly building a reputation as a pioneer in future-ready teaching and technology-driven collaboration.
Our partnership with IT:U is built on shared values: agility, openness, and an interdisciplinary approach to solving real-world challenges. During this visit, discussions focused on scaling up joint initiatives – from co-designed courses and student exchanges to collaborative research in areas such as ethical AI and data governance.
We are excited to see how naturally our strengths align with IT:U. Their innovative spirit, focus on interdisciplinary learning and research, and commitment to shaping the digital future are a perfect match for us.
Tiina Koskiranta, Uninovis Project Manager
The visit included presentations and intensive discussions about both universities, their teaching methodologies, and potential for joint research and development projects. The two HEIs explored how to co-create challenge-based and cross-disciplinary learning experiences. A key shared goal is to establish an AI and data-focused learning alliance that not only strengthens technical competence but also addresses societal impact and ethical dimensions.
We empower our students to become interdisciplinary, computationally empowered transformers of tomorrow. During this visit, we shared valuable insights about our universities and engaged in fruitful discussions. It became clear that we have many synergies, shared values, and exciting opportunities for future collaboration with TAMK.
