Journal Guide is a powerful tool that helps researchers find suitable publication channels. Now it can be also used to easily find out which journals are included in the agreements between the library and publishers.

ChronosHub's Journal Guide search integrates information on the criteria of open access publishing agreements between the Tampere higher education community and publishers. With the new Journals with Agreements filter in the journal search, you can narrow your results to show only journals that are part of an agreement between the library and publishers.

Through these agreements, members of the higher education community can publish peer-reviewed journal articles open access either completely without article processing charges, or with a reduced article processing charge. The discounts apply to peer-reviewed articles where the corresponding author is affiliated with Tampere University, Tampere University of Applied Sciences, or Tays.

The journal search used by the Tampere higher education community also includes information on the journal's JUFO level.

More from the Journal Guide:

  • You do not need to log in to use the tool.
  • It contains information from over 52,000 journals, including: journals indexed in the Scopus database, fully open access journals listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and journals evaluated by the Publication Forum (JUFO).
  • With the journal search tool, you can search for either a specific journal, or journals on a specific topic using keywords or discipline filters. You can also filter by JUFO level, or by specific publisher.
  • It compares the suitability of journals with the requirements of research funders (incl. Plan S funders).

In October, the library organises a training session to provide guidance on how to use the tool. This training session is in Finnish.

The library also has an English-language video guide on how to use the tool.

Open access support funding in 2024

For peer-reviewed articles that are published in journals not included in the agreements, OA support funding can be applied for. You can also apply for support funding to cover the remainder of the discounted article processing charge.

Both the corresponding author and the journal must meet the criteria for OA support funding.
