Instructions for applying for user rights

You can view, search for new and terminate your current permissions in the id.tuni.fi service.

Log in to id.tuni.fi with your TUNI username. You can see your permissions by clicking on the "My user rights" button on the front page of the service.
The My user rights page shows all user rights and user right applications tied to your contracts as well as your username. You can also apply for a new user right on the page. The page is divided into two tabs: User rights and Applications.

User rights tab

The tab lists all of your contracts that qualify for the TUNI ID. For example, your employment contract is reflected in the Staff contracts and your study rights in the Student contracts. You can see the licenses tied to the contract below the contract by clicking on its title.

Applications tab

The Applications tab shows you the applications you have submitted for additional user rights. You can visit this tab to see how your application is being processed.

Instructions

Review your own user rights

Check your user rights at id.tuni.fi as follows:

  1. Click the My User Rights button on the service’s home page. Under the Contracts heading, you will see your contracts.
  2. Click the arrow (User Rights) on the right side of the contract row.
    • You can view your expired contracts and the user rights linked to them for 14 days after the contract has ended.
    • For an active contract, any expired user rights related to it can be viewed for 120 days after the user right has ended.
    • On the User bound user rights tab, you will see the user rights associated with your TUNI-account. The expiry of a contract does not affect the validity of these access rights.

Apply for new user right

Apply for a new user right at id.tuni.fi as follows:

  1. Click the My User Rights button on the service’s home page.
  2. The Apply for a new user right button is located at the top right of the User rights tab. Click on the button to apply for a new user right.
  3. Select the contract with which the user right you need is associated.
  4. Find the user right by filtering by keyword or by browsing the user rights menu. The owner of the user right has defined the types of contracts for which user right can be applied for. As a result, you will see different permissions based on the contract you have chosen. If you can't find the user right you need, check whether you chose the right contract at the beginning of the application process.
    • If you made the correct selection and the user right is not visible, please check the instructions for the target service or system on the intranet. Some user rights cannot be requested via the id.tuni.fi service, but are granted by the owner according to a separate application process. The application process is described in the instructions for the relevant service or system.
  5. Write a clear justification for the need for the user right. “Needed to perform work tasks" is not a sufficiently precise justification. Give a clear description of why you need this access. This information is required both by the supervisor when supporting the application and by the owner of the authorisation when granting the authorisation. A clear justification speeds up the application process.
  6. Once the user right has been sent, you can track the status of the processing  of the application in the Applications tab.

Termination of own user right

If you find yourself with unnecessary user rights, you can terminate the user right in My personal information view.

  1. Go to the front page of the id.tuni.fi service and click on the button My personal information.
  2. Select the contract to which the user right is attached.
  3. Open the contract information from the arrow to the right of the status information. Select the function Revoke to the right of the permission name.
