Digitalization creates opportunities
Our modern society is fundamentally built on electricity and digital technologies. Information technology plays a major role in the digitalization of everyday life, with IT solutions being essential across all sectors. This creates a wide range of career opportunities for experts in the field. At the same time, digitalization and the transition to renewable energy sources are key drivers of a sustainable future, which makes electrical engineering a highly relevant field as well. Within Information Technology and Electrical Engineering majors, you will study core courses in the discipline, build a strong foundation, and then specialize in one of the five focus areas.
We offer our students high-quality teaching in relatively small, multicultural study groups where teamwork is strongly supported. In addition to providing a sound theoretical basis for further studies in the field of technology, the programme places special emphasis on employability and integration. With this unique combination, our students are well-prepared for the international world of research and industry.
Flexibility and options for further studies
Your first study year consists of common core courses in Computing and Electrical Engineering as well as in Mathematics and Physics. You will choose your major and minor at the start of the second study year. University studies at Tampere will offer you flexibility to tailor your degree according to your own interests. We also offer our second-year students the possibility to do research training in one of our research groups. This is an invaluable early opportunity to get hands-on experience while earning ECTS credits applicable to your degree.
Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Technology degree are eligible to continue their studies directly towards a master's degree at Tampere University without having to re-apply. There are multiple options to choose from among the English-taught Master of Science (Tech) programmes offered by Tampere University.
