At TAMK, seven research groups bring together top experts from across our five faculties. Working closely with our partners, these teams turn applied research into real‑world impact. Each group is aligned with TAMK’s strategic research, development and innovation (RDI) areas of strength, driving competitiveness of enterprises and public organisations, fostering well‑being and shaping new, sustainable solutions for the future.

Applied CleanTech (ACT)

ACT is a multidisciplinary research group that develops and commercialises applied clean technology solutions for a carbon neutral future for industry and society.

Bio‑based Colorants and Inks (Biocolores)

Biocolores develops bio-based colorants, advanced coloring solutions, and water-based printing inks derived from industrial side streams, including waste coffee and fractions from the forest industry.

Family Growth and Wellbeing (GrowWell)

GrowWell is a multidisciplinary research group that promotes the wellbeing of children, young people and families, supports sustainable population development, and strengthens the competence of professionals working with sensitive issues.

Predictive, Preventive, Personalised and Participatory Health (PRECISE)

PRECISE is a multidisciplinary research group focused on utilising genomic data, synthetic data and artificial intelligence to promote health and wellbeing.

Sustainable Futures through Human Interaction and Transformative Learning across Societal Transitions (SHIFT)

SHIFT focuses on examining the future resilience of organisations and communities amid major societal transformations, such as the green transition, digitalisation and geopolitical fragmentation.

TAMK Advanced Manufacturing Group (TAMG)

TAMG focuses on the digitalisation and renewal of the manufacturing industry through the use of smart technologies.

Transformative Value Creation in Renewing Economy (TraCE)

TraCE aims to develop solutions that strengthen systemic innovation capabilities and enable cities, enterprises and communities to transition towards a sustainability transformation.
