Tenure track career path
Our tenure track model consists of three terms: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor. When a tenure track position is opened for application, it can be opened on one or several ranks. Appointments to the entry-level rank (Assistant professor) are made for a term of five years. Appointments to the second rank (Associate Professor) are made for a term of five years or on a permanent basis. When an individual is promoted after his/her first term, the appointment is made on a permanent basis. Appointments to the rank of Professor are always made on a permanent basis.
Tenure track positions are openly and internationally advertised. When considering candidates for a tenure track position, we will assess their demonstrated potential to achieve full Professor status and international distinction in their field.
We will set personal goals with those chosen to the career path. The achievement of the goals will be monitored on a regular basis during the tenure track term. Advancement on the tenure track is based on an overall assessment of the person’s progress.
We are committed to the individuals recruited on our tenure track path, and will offer them all the opportunity to advance on their career path. The supervisor together with the Dean of the faculty ensures that the person recruited on the career path has the opportunity to meet the goals set for him/her e.g. that s/he has necessary research infrastructure available. In addition, we will provide training, coaching and other support for the development of teaching, instructional and supervisory skills and other competencies.
