TAMK Route Studies for vocational upper secondary students
What are Route Studies?
At the moment, we only have one route available in English: International Business route for Tredu's Business Students.
As a vocational upper secondary student, you can complete route studies alongside your current studies. These studies will be included in your vocational qualification. Once you have completed the required route study module and graduated from your vocational institution, you will be eligible to apply for degree studies at TAMK through a separate admission process for that specific degree programme.
The scope of route studies varies by field, ranging from 22 to 50 ECTS credits. As the route studies are accredited to the UAS degree, they shorten the duration of your higher education studies by at least half a year. You can register for route studies using the application form available on this page.
How can I join Route Studies?
Route studies are suitable for you if:
- you study in an institution that has a cooperation agreement.
- you are motivated, eager to learn new things, and wish to expand your skills to the higher education level
- you are proactive and capable of independent study
- you can follow the timetable of the route studies, which are mainly fulltime studies
- you are able to complete your vocational qualification during the same semester as the route studies
Before applying for route studies, you must discuss your study plan and motivation with your study counsellor. Application for the route studies is also done with your own study counsellor.

Route studies for vocational students do not carry a tuition fee. However, if you are a non-EU/EEA citizen and are later accepted as a degree student, your residence permit history will be checked from Migri. If your first permit in Finland or your current permit in Finland have been granted based on studies, you will be liable to pay tuition fees. Also, if you have a Type A permit based on family ties, your sponsor’s residence permit history will be checked from Migri. If their first permit in Finland or their current permit in Finland have been granted based on studies, you will be liable to pay tuition fees. Tuition fee payment is required from the point of accepting your degree study place. Read more about tuition fees in TAMK.
