Tampere Universities community has partnered with the brand-new International House Tampere and aims to improve the services offered to international students joining the community.

Each academic year, the Tampere Universities community welcomes hundreds of international students. Both Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) are offering a great range of degrees and training programmes available in English.

Understanding and offering necessary support to the international students can ease their integration into the Finnish society and help them successfully join the local job-market. In collaboration with the City of Tampere, the Universities community has developed the Study & Stay programme. The programme follows the journey of the international students from start to finish. The students receive expert support for their studies, integration, career.

“I anticipate seeing more and more international talents joining Tampere Universities community, students and staff alike, which integrate well into the Finnish society and stay longtime in the country,” says Sven Rassl, Senior Lecturer in TAMK.

A great new partner has just opened its doors in the city. The International House Tampere is a single service point for supporting internationals with living, working, studying and connecting with local employers.

The International House Tampere opened its doors on Friday 15 October. The hybrid opening party was streamed online for attendees from around the world, who followed the happenings on the House premises and joined in the discussion via chat.

The programme was hosted by Sean Ricks and included a panel discussion from various stakeholders highly invested in Tampere’s international appeal and attractiveness. Representatives from International House Tampere, Tampere region’s employment services, Tampere Vocational College Tredu and Tampere University discussed the need for supporting the integration of international talents that the House fills.

“Many of the challenges that have existed for internationals are now being tackled by International House Tampere, as part of the national Talent Boost initiative. We are focused on improving employment opportunities for the international students who want to stay in Tampere after graduation,” comments Nick Cotton, Talend Advisor for City of Tampere.
