How north2north placement works: choose three, get one
In the north2north exchange programme, you cannot apply directly to a single university. Instead, you must select three different north2north destinations, and you will be placed in one of them. Placement is based on your preferences, availability, and the overall assessment of the north2north programme.
Important information for international degree students
International degree students must obtain written permission from their degree programme’s education specialist in order to be eligible to apply for exchange studies. Most universities in North America and the UK offer exchange studies only at the bachelor's level. The only exceptions are the University of Washington and the University of Saskatchewan, which do offer master’s level courses for exchange students. However, keep in mind that these are just two of the three destinations you are required to select when applying through the north2north programme. You cannot apply to a single university directly - read more about the placement process above.
For exchange destinations in North America, please note that there are citizenship-based restrictions due to tightened visa regulations in both the United States and Canada for non-EU applicants. Additionally, please be aware that the only financial support available from the university is the travel grant. While you are not required to pay tuition fees at the host university, you may be asked to provide a comprehensive financial statement and you are personally responsible for all costs related to the exchange, including but not limited to: J-1 visa fees for the United States, possible visa fees for Canada (depending on your passport), travel expenses, accommodation and living costs in the host country, any mandatory health insurance fees required by the host institution. Detailed cost information will be provided only after you have been selected for exchange, but preliminary details are available on the Funding Studies Abroad page, specifically under the North America section. Students who hold citizenship of the destination country are not eligible to apply.
