The first sustainability and responsibility report of Tampere University has been published

The report has been prepared to complement the annual report, to highlight the impact of the university's research, education, and collaboration in promoting sustainability, and to detail our efforts to reduce our environmental and social footprint. The report describes many successes but also highlights areas for improvement. As an attachment, the listed actions and achievements of faculties and other units of the university are published. These reveal the activity of the university community to promote sustainability.
"The report is not an end in itself, but the most important thing is the actions we take. Our goal by 2030 is to promote sustainability and reduce negative impacts, and the progress of these goals is monitored through annual reporting," states Chief Specialist Eeva-Liisa Viskari.
Transparency and openness are the cornerstones of sustainability and responsibility, and genuine actions are their strong foundation. Therefore, the report also includes highlights of sustainability actions within the university community. These describe the measures taken in various parts of the community to consider the principles of sustainable development and to promote a good working environment, ethically sustainable practices, equality and equity, and the well-being of staff, as well as to identify and reduce environmental impacts.
Vice-President Antti Lönnqvist, who leads the sustainability and responsibility work, has a wish for the readers:
"The report at hand provides a very comprehensive overview of the university's activities from the perspective of sustainability and responsibility. I hope the report will be read and actively utilized."
The report is available on the university's website: Sustainable development at Tampere University | Tampere universities
