The awards ceremony took place during Tampere University’s Annual Celebration, which was held in the Main Building on the city centre campus on Wednesday 15 April 2026.
The awards were presented by Tapio Visakorpi, Vice President for Research at Tampere University, together with representatives of the University of Tampere Foundation and the Industrial Research Fund.

The Industrial Research Fund at Tampere University of Technology
The Industrial Research Fund at Tampere University of Technology sr was established by the Tampere Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1987. The Fund’s mission is to support research and other activities at Tampere University in the fields of engineering and technology. The Fund fulfils its mission by giving out grants and scholarships, at the discretion of its Board, to promote research in technology-based disciplines at Tampere University. The Fund awards approximately €1 million in funding to the University each year.
The University of Tampere Foundation
The University of Tampere Foundation sr was established in 1973 when the University of Tampere became a public university. According to its charter, the Foundation’s purpose is to support activities and research conducted at Tampere University in the following fields:
- social sciences (philosophy, history, literature, logopedics, psychology, health sciences, social research, epidemiology and public health)
- computer science, information studies, languages, media studies, communications and performing arts
- education and culture
- medicine and biosciences
- administrative and business studies, political science
