Times Higher Education (THE) continues to publish global discipline-specific university comparisons. Following the overall rankings of universities, the magazine publishes comparisons of fields, this time in engineering and computer science.

Tampere University is included in both rankings. Engineering is ranked among the top 400 (ranking in places 301–400) and Computer Science is included within the top 500.

In THE’s world ranking of universities, Tampere University’s overall place improved slightly from last year and was in the category of 250–300. In recent years, research citations have been Tampere University’s strength reflecting the attention paid by other researchers to research conducted here.

THE uses five pillars of to rank universities, which are broken down into more detailed indicators. The weightiest pillars are teaching, research and the number of research citations.

THE started the discipline-specific rankings in September with rankings in life sciences, medicine and health sciences, psychology, and natural sciences.
