Coronavirus cases have been identified among exchange students who have arrived in Tampere Universities. Due to the situation, Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) have contacted all international exchange students by email on Wednesday 20 January. Most exchange students have also been contacted by phone.

The circumstances of the contacted students have been satisfactory and students who have been placed in isolation or quarantine have been given clear instructions by health authorities. The University and TAMK will be regularly in contact with the students and will provide the needed support. The public health authorities continue tracing possible chains of infection.

The University and TAMK have operated within the framework of instructions provided by the public authorities and comprehensively and proactively informed students about staying safe during the pandemic. It is very unfortunate that new coronavirus cases have nevertheless been identified. After developing an overall picture of the situation, the University and TAMK will assess whether it is possible to continue welcoming new exchange students in Tampere.

Tampere Universities emphasize the importance of following all safety precautions relating to the pandemic both on campus and during free time.
