Tampere University was created through a merger between Tampere University of Technology and the University of Tampere on 1 January 2019. Tampere University, with technology, health and society as its area of priority, is the second largest university in Finland. The new University is currently undergoing extensive development characterised by IT projects and the building of a new organisational culture.

Tampere University Foundation has come to a mutual understanding with the present Director, Communications and Brand Development and member of the University’s Management Group Camilla Lindfors that she will step down today on 4 March.

“A great deal of pressure and high expectations are always placed on communications during periods of organisational change. I want to thank Camilla for the visionary and active contributions to the Management Group’s work. Her input has been extremely valuable in the early stages of our new University,” President Mari Walls says.

“It has been wonderful to be a part of launching the new University and the Tampere Universities community. Merger processes are always challenging and building a shared identity and organisational culture takes considerable effort on everyone’s part,” Camilla Lindfors says. "Having an extensive background working with large international corporations, I believe that experts from the private and public sectors have a lot to learn from each other, although they work in very different environments."

Head of Development Katja Ayres has been assigned to temporarily lead the University’s Communications, Brand and Marketing unit. The communications teams are led by Head of Communications Tuuli Laukkanen and the marketing and brand teams by Marketing Manager Jaana Kaartinen. Manager Elina Suojanen-Laine oversees alumni and stakeholder relations and fundraising activities.
