The article by Markus Ojala and Leena Ripatti-Torniainen was awarded as the best of 2024 in the European Journal of Communication.
 
Markus Ojala (UH) and Leena Ripatti-Torniainen (TAU) have won the Article of the Year Award in the prestigious European Journal of Communication for their study Where is the public of 'networked publics'? A critical analysis of the theoretical limitations of online publics research. The study critically examines how the increasing detachment from foundational theories of the public has led to a conceptual and empirical narrowing in the analysis of emerging online phenomena.

Leena Ripatti-Torniainen, Ph. D., is a scholar in two disciplines and has been working in Tampere University in ITC and EDU Faculties. She currently works in EDU as a University Lecturer in University Pedagogy. Markus Ojala, D.Soc.Sc., is a University Lecturer in Media and Communication Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Helsinki.
