Financial matters when studying at Tampere University

Tuition Fees and Scholarships
Tuition fees at Tampere University range between €10,000 and €12,000 per academic year. Students from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland who study in bachelor’s or master’s programmes taught in English are liable to pay. Tampere University scholarships are available for application for merited, high-achieving and motivated fee-paying students.
Costs of Living
All students have to pay for their accomodation and living expenses themselves. It is important to make arrangements for adequate funding for the entire period of your studies before leaving your home country.

Working while Studying
International students are allowed to work during their stay in Finland, but with certain restrictions. The restrictions have to do with the nationality (EU/EEA or non-EU/EEA) and the nature of employment. If you work in Finland, you must pay income taxes. For more information on the regulations of study and work, please see MIGRI’s website.
Please note that finding a job requires activity and initiative and many employers require their staff to know Finnish. Unlike in many countries, job opportunities on campus are not common. You cannot count on financing your studies by working, but need to arrange adequate funding for the entire period of your studies before leaving your home country.

Study and Stay
Study & stay is a programme of activities and services for international degree students. The aim of Study & Stay is to support international students to study, live and work -or start a business- in the Tampere Area. Study & Stay was developed by the Tampere Universities Career Services in collaboration with the City of Tampere and as part of the International Tampere Hub project and the national Talent Boost programme.
