21st Century Educators from Finland Teachers for the Future – Professional Development Certificate is a continuing education programme for higher education and vocational teachers.

The programme is competence-based and multidisciplinary. It is suitable for teachers of various subject fields who wish to learn how to combine theory and practice in teaching their own field of expertise.

Structure of the programme

The six-month programme is divided into two parts. It provides both practical, hands on experiences, as well as theoretical insight into the core components of applied learning.

During the first part, which is studied in Finland, the participants study in TAMK learning environments depending on their field of expertise. The participants are given guidance and counselling starting from the application period, and receive full support while living in Finland.

The second phase of the programme concentrates on the practical application of the newly learned methods in the local learning environments at the students' own home countries. Guidance is provided using modern e-learning methods.

The programme is applied in practice and combines teaching and learning in projects, teaching in English and subject-specific project skills. The pedagogical methods of the programme are competence based, student-centred and learning in the working life.

During the programme, each participant produces a development plan under the guidance of our Finnish experts and in cooperation with the home institution. The practical part of the development plan is then implemented in the participant’s country of origin.

The programme ends with a final seminar. After the training’s conclusion, students are awarded with certificates of 20 credit points ECTS (540 student working hours) on level seven Bologna frame of reference.

Who is this programme for?

The programme is suitable for groups of minimum 20 participants.

Participants are required to hold a bachelor degree or higher. Participants also need to have an intermediate level of understanding and passive production of English.
