At the beginning of your stay, you will have to take care of a few administrative things, but you will be guided through the process during our <a href="https://www.tuni.fi/studentsguide/handbook/uni?page=5898" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Welcome Week</a> and after. Besides <a href="https://www.tuni.fi/en/students-guide/handbook/uni/exchange-studies/information-exchange-students-university/registration-university-exchange-students" rel="noopener" target="_blank">registering with the University</a>, exchange students are expected to complete two formal registration processes after arrival. Although, the DVV registration process is recommended to start online already before your arrival or right after.

<h3>Autumn semester 2024</h3>

The DVV registration is mandatory for all exchange students that will study at Tampere University for more than 90 days. Basically, that means all exchange students and the only exception group are the doctoral level (PhD) exchange students that will stay here for less than 3 months. Please follow the instructions below on how to get ready and how to complete your registration online and on campus (August - September 2024).

The DVV registration has two mandatory steps:

	<li>Submit the required documents (scans) before going to the on campus registration (at any time, 1 - 25 August 2024)</li>
	<li>Complete the DVV registration on campus with original documents on any of the dates (and campus) below:</li>
</ol>

<ul>
	<li>26 August 2024, at 10:00 - 15:00 on the city centre campus (exact location TBA)</li>
	<li>27 August 2024, at 10:00 - 15:00 on the city centre campus (exact location TBA)</li>
	<li>2 September 2024, at 10:00 - 15:00 on Hervanta campus (exact location TBA)</li>
	<li>3 September 2024, at 10:00 - 15:00 on Hervanta campus (exact location TBA)</li>
	<li>6 September 2024, at 10:00 - 15:00 on Hervanta campus (exact location TBA)</li>
</ul>

Please do not book any time slots at the DVV's office and follow only the instructions you will receive from the International Mobility Services by email in August or on this page. The registration is free of charge and you can come at any time between 10:00 and 15:00, but note the lunch break at 11:30 - 12:00.

<h4>1. How to submit the required documents online</h4>

<ol>
	<li>Fill out and submit the online DVV form for students on <a href="https://dvv.fi/en/international-student" rel="noopener" target="_blank">dvv.fi/en/international-student</a> (select option C)</li>
	<li>If you are not able to submit the online DVV form, please see the instructions below (section 4)</li>
</ol>

<h4>2. Which documents I need to submit in advance in the online DVV form?</h4>

<ol>
	<li>A copy of your valid passport (or EU citizen's official ID card, front and back of the card)</li>
	<li>A PDF copy of your study certificate (<a href="https://sis-tuni.funidata.fi/student/profile/study-rights" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Sisu</a> &gt; My profile &gt; Form a Certificate of Student Status)*</li>
	<li>A copy of your <a href="https://migri.fi/en/residence-permit-card" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Finnish residence permit card</a> (front and back of the card and only if you have one)</li>
</ol>

*A Certificate of Student Status will be available for a download in Sisu for students of the autumn semester 2024 and full academic year 2024-25 (who have completed the registrations process with the University and activated their TUNI accounts) starting from 1 August 2024.

<h4>3. Attend the mandatory DVV registration on our campuses in late August and early September 2024</h4>

The mandatory on campus DVV registrations will be organised between 26 August - 6 September 2024, see exact dates and locations above. The registration is free of charge and you can come at any time between 10:00 and 15:00, lunch break is at 11:30 - 12:00. You can attend any day or campus to complete your DVV registration. The registration itself does not take more than 10 minutes to complete, if you have completed the online part (section 1) and you have all the original documents with you (see below).

For the DVV registration (on campus), please have with you the original documents:

	<li>Your Finnish plastic residence permit card (only if you have one)</li>

<h4>4. I was not able to complete the online DVV's online, what should I do?</h4>

If you were not able to complete the online part mentioned in the section 1:

	<li>Go directly for the on campus DVV registration in August - September 2024, but you will have to print out (and copy) and have the following documents with you:

The registration is required for citizens of the EU/EEA/EFTA countries only. You have to register your right of residence if you are staying in Finland without a break for over three months. <a href="https://migri.fi/en/registration-of-right-of-residence" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Submit a registration application</a> before your stay has lasted over three months.

If you stay in Finland without a break for over three months and do not apply for registration you are committing a violation of the Aliens Act for which you can get a fine. It is enough that you submit an application within three months of your arrival in Finland. It does not matter whether the decision is made within three months or not.
