Usability laboratory
The usability laboratory serves teaching and research. It is used as a teaching environment for students who are learning to work with human participants in laboratory settings especially when doing usability evaluations for software systems and services. It is also used by researchers who are evaluating interactive technology or running experiments to measure human performance or behavior with interactive systems.

The laboratory consists of two rooms. The first room contains the technology for recording the interactions. The second room has an office workstation for the participant. Sometimes the researchers work together with the participant in the second room and sometimes it is essential that the participant works alone. There is a window between the rooms and by adjusting the lighting, researchers can control the extent to which the participant and the researchers can see each other through the window.
