Co-funded by the European Union
Tampere University of Applied Sciences
Duration of project1.3.2024–31.8.2026

Towards inclusive vocational education project (later INKLU project) promotes inclusive education by developing and sharing effective practices for special support and multidisciplinary collaboration. It also strengthens the expertise of staff in vocational institutions and staff in vocational teacher education.

Background

In line with the principles of inclusivity, everyone should have equal opportunities to study, with education and support tailored to individual needs. Achieving this goal requires developing institutional support processes, structures, and practices, as well as enhancing staff competence and vocational teacher education.

Goal

The INKLU project aims to ensure equal support for all vocational students across Finland, enabling them to complete their studies, gain qualifications, and find employment.

To achieve this, the project:

Clarifies support and collaboration processes in vocational education,
strengthens staff competence in inclusive practices,
develops teacher and guidance counselor training, and
scales up effective models nationally in collaboration with the JOPPI project and others.

Impact

Vocational education staff are better equipped to support all students and collaborate across disciplines. Vocational teacher education institutions share a unified understanding of special support and are prepared to train inclusive education professionals. The project leaves behind lasting regional networks that promote inclusive practices across vocational education.
