The project aims to study how the guidelines related to marketing of unhealthy food products reaching children and youth are known and implemented in Finland. The project also examines marketing restriction practices and the factors affecting their implementation both in Finland and internationally. The project is led by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), and Tampere University is involved as the other consortium partner, led by Ulla-Maija Sutinen and Elina Närvänen. The research group at Tampere University is particularly responsible for consulting food business operators in order to understand the awareness, reception and implementation of guidelines related to food marketing in Finland. The project is part of the "Research activities supporting the Government’s decision-making" (VN Tutkiva). The project will start in spring 2026 and last for a year.
