AV UP – New Skills for the AV Industry

Co-funded by the European Union
Tampere University of Applied Sciences
Duration of project1.1.2024–31.12.2026

The "AV UP – New Skills for the AV Industry" project strengthens the industry's expertise and supports the growth needs of productions. The AV industry is highly seasonal and occasionally faces skill shortages. The industry is characterized by rapid technological development, a fragmented operational field, and partly uncoordinated cooperation between educational institutions and employers. The AV industry has growth potential, but operating conditions vary across different parts of Finland. AV UP seeks solutions to all these challenges.

In the AV UP project, an overview of the AV industry's structures, resources, and skill needs will be created, and a model for systematically anticipating changes in the AV industry's operating environment and skill needs will be developed. Additionally, a model for developing AV industry skills and pilot trials of small skill modules will be built. The project will develop funding solutions for training models that support growth. The project will implement an operational model that supports the skills and capacity of the AV industry and the cooperation of key players.

Background

The AV UP Project Strengthens the Expertise of the Audiovisual Industry and Supports the Growth Needs of Productions by Bringing Together Industry Trainers, Companies, and Communities

The AV UP project stems from the Creative Economy Roadmap of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (TEM) and the Ministry of Education and Culture (OKM), as well as the Growth Agreement of the AV Industry. A small market and language area do not allow for internal competition. The key to success in the AV industry is to operate in continuous and coordinated cooperation between the workforce, educational institutions, and communities.

The AV UP project improves communication between actors, promotes employment, and serves as a developer of both degree-oriented education and continuous learning. The project internationalizes expertise and builds a comprehensive model of continuous development for the AV industry.

Goal

The Project Implements Five Work Packages Utilizing TAMK and Other Sub-Implementers:

Overview of the AV industry's structures, resources, and skill needs
Model for systematically anticipating changes in the AV industry's operating environment and skill needs
Model for developing AV industry skills and pilot trials of small skill modules
Funding solutions for training models that support the growth of the AV industry
Operational model that supports the skills and capacity of the AV industry and the cooperation of key players
As a result of the project, expertise and broad cooperation within the AV industry will develop. These benefits will generate growth for the industry through enhanced skills and network-based operations.

Impact

The Key Outcome of the Project is a Sustainable Operational Model that Supports the Skills and Capacity of the AV Industry, Engaging Key Players – Educational Institutions, Companies, and Relevant Stakeholders – Nationwide

The results include a more detailed overview of the AV industry's structures, resources, and skill needs, a model for systematically anticipating changes in the operating environment and skill needs, a service model for AV industry education, 28 small skill modules, and a report on funding solutions for training models that support the growth of the AV industry.
