The University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology merged establishing the Tampere University on 1 January 2019. Together, the new Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences comprise the Tampere higher education community.
The University of Tampere, Tampere University of Technology and Tampere University of Applied Sciences will continue to act as data controllers for the personal data they hold and remain individually responsible for meeting the requirements of data protection laws. The higher education institutions process personal data relating to, for example, their students, employees, guests, customers and other stakeholders. The institutions are committed to upholding data protection principles and processing all personal data in accordance with the relevant legislation.
This Data Protection Policy imposes obligations on the personnel, students and other members of the university community. This policy was approved by the President on 3 January 2019. The purpose of the Data Protection Policy is to set forth the obligations, main principles and operating models that must be followed to ensure compliance with data protection legislation.

Here at Tampere University, we are commitment to delivering the best possible experience to our customers and continuously developing our services. We may use the date stored in our customer relationship management (CRM) system to foster our customer and stakeholder relations and reach out to our target audiences with information about our activities and educational offerings that match their needs and interests. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve customer experience, we apply data mining techniques to the analysis of CRM data to identify customer needs and offer tailored services to different target groups. All direct identifiers will be removed before processing data.
