High-level delegation from the Philippines made a benchmarking visit to TAMK

A delegation from the Philippines led by Senator Sherwin T Gatchalian visited TAMK to bench-mark Finnish education and the UAS model.

Tampere University of Applied Sciences had the honour of hosting a high-level delegation from the Philippines on 2 November 2022. The group of seven delegates was led by Senator Mr Sherwin T Gatchalian and the Philippine Ambassador to Sweden Ms Maria Lumen B. Isleta.

The purpose of the visit was to benchmark Finland with regard to its educational system. By request of the Finnish Ministry of Education, the delegation ended up visiting TAMK. The programme included a tour around TAMK’s premises and a fruitful discussion with Carita Prokki, Director of Internationalisation and Business Operations of TAMK. In particular, the guests were interested and impressed by the unique system of the universities of applied sciences in Finland as well as TAMK’s mission to provide working-life oriented and student-centered education.

The delegation also had an opportunity to meet the Philippine students at TAMK and hear about their studies and life in Tampere. The students spoke highly about their education at TAMK and said they chose to come to study in Finland since it is the happiest country in the world.
