Minnamari Vippola
About me
Professor at Tampere University (2019 onwards): Professorship in Materials Characterization. Research areas include structural characterization and NDE (non-destructive evaluation) of various materials (nanomaterials, magnetic materials, 3D printed materials, materials in tribological contacts, coatings) together with activities in material processing, performance and failure analysis. Special expertise on electron microscopy including the administrative and scientific leadership in university-level Tampere Microscopy Center. Main Tampere University administrative duty is Vice Dean for Research in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences including the membership in TAU Science Council and TAU Infrastructure Steering group.
Responsibilities
- Professor in Materials Characterization and Head of the Materials Characterization group, Materials Science and Environmental Engineering
- Vice Dean for Research in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences
- Head of Tampere Microscopy Center
Fields of expertise
•Research focus: Materials structural characterization (electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction), non-destructive evaluation (Barkhausen noise, x-ray diffraction) for surface condition and residual stresses, and development of materials characterization and testing methods.
•Collaboration offering: Know-how on materials structural features and their influence on the materials performance to design innovative, sustainable, energy-efficient and safe materials. NDT practices for efficient quality control and performance monitoring. Solutions for real industrial applications.
