About me

I have Professorship (Tenured) in Materials Characterization. My research areas include microstructural characterization and NDT (non-destructive testing) of various materials together with activities in material prosessing, performance and failure analysis. My special expertise area is on electron microscopy including the leadership in university-level microscopy infrastructure (Tampere Microscopy Center). I also act as Vice Dean for Research in Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences.

  1. Tampere University: Member in TAU Science council, Steering group member in PROFI6 Tampere Imaging Research Platform and Steering group member in Tampere Health project
  2. Board member of SCANDEM Nordic Microscopy Society since 2012 
  3. Earlier in Academy of Finland: Member of the Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering (2019-21) and Member if The Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee (FIRI Committee 2019-22)
