Accessibility in student admissions at TAMK

We design student admissions to ensure that every applicant has equal opportunities to gain access to education. The admissions process is guided by legislation, national recommendations, and TAMK’s own policies.

Multiple pathways to degree education

We offer applicants several alternative ways to be selected. In the joint application system, selection methods include certificate-based selection, the UAS entrance examination, as well as selection courses, pre-assignments, and interviews. Diverse selection methods help applicants from different backgrounds find the pathway that best suits them.

It is also possible to progress to degree studies through Open UAS studies or by completing path studies already during upper secondary education. This allows for a flexible and smooth transition to higher education without unnecessary delays.

We continuously develop new ways to apply for education.

Clear, accessible, and multichannel applicant communication

The application instructions on the tuni.fi website are structured clearly and written in clear, comprehensible, and unambiguous language. Applicants to English‑taught programmes also have access to comprehensive instructions that take cultural neutrality and diversity into account.

Application instruction videos, programme presentations, and student stories provide applicants with a concrete picture of studying at TAMK. Information concerning SORA criteria is clearly presented within the fields of education to which they apply. SORA regulations are Finnish legal provisions that define suitability requirements for certain studies and professions, for example in the field of health care.

Applicant guidance is easily accessible: telephone services are available weekly, and emails are answered within three days in both Finnish and English. In addition, Opintopolku.fi supports the nationwide comparison of educational programmes.

Accessibility and individual arrangements in entrance examinations

Applications to TAMK are submitted electronically, and the UAS entrance examination can be taken at almost any Finnish university of applied sciences. TAMK’s internal transfer application process supports students who wish to change their field of study smoothly during their studies.

We support applicants, when necessary, by providing individual arrangements in entrance examinations. The most common arrangements include additional time, a quiet examination space, or the use of an assistant. Applicants can find instructions for applying for individual arrangements on the public tuni.fi website as well as on UASinfo.fi website.
