Hakki Meseci is a Tampere University graduate who currently works as a project manager at Boeing Digital Aviation Solutions in Frankfurt, Germany. Originally from Turkey, Hakki came to Finland in 2011, enjoyed himself immensely and ended up living in the country for twelve years.

Constant learning keeps you fresh and creative

Hakki Meseci first got the idea of coming to Finland in 2010, encouraged by his student colleagues in Turkey. Back then, he was mainly motivated by the opportunity to improve his English skills and the fact that Finnish education is so highly rated.

Hakki moved to Finland in 2011 and ended up staying in the country for twelve years. In 2023, he moved to Frankfurt, Germany, where he started working as a project manager in digital aviation.

During his time in Finland, Hakki completed a bachelor’s degree at the Häme University of Applied Sciences, a master’s degree at the University of Vaasa and another master’s degree at Tampere University. He has also studied information systems at the Middle East Technical University in Turkey, and he currently studies towards a master’s degree in analytics at Georgia Institute of Technology.

“I have strong motivation. Constant learning keeps me fresh and creative,” Hakki says.

Data is never static

In his current position as a project manager at Boeing Digital Aviation Solutions, Hakki leads a global data science and data analytics team. The data solutions his team develops help in business optimisation and better customer strategies.

“Our focus is on data solutions and helping business decision making. It is great to see how much you can achieve even with small pieces of data. You just need to see it, otherwise you’re missing important business points, Hakki says.

In his everyday work, Hakki juggles between different time zones. Working in Germany, he conveniently connects east and west – the company’s operations in India and headquarters in the US. In many ways, data is always on the move.

“Data is never static. It demands constant monitoring, fresh collection, and continuous analysis to stay valuable.”

IT studies in Finland were practical and enjoyable

At Tampere University, Hakki majored in information technology and specialised in user experience and human-technology interaction. These themes conveniently converge with his current job description.

“Information technology and human-computer interaction are always there, they are applicable in almost any field. As for user experience, the human element is key. The slogan ‘Human Potential Unlimited’ therefore fits me just perfectly”.

One of the reasons Hakki enjoyed studying in Finland so much is that instruction was practical.

“The studies involved a lot of peer communication and discussion, which helps you gain hands-on experience while also learning theory.”

During the interview, Hakki sips coffee from his Finnish design mug. Since moving to Germany in 2023, he has visited Finland three times already.

“I do miss Finland. And I’ve been looking for a proper sauna in Frankfurt since I arrived,” he says with a grin.
