Higher Education Group
Higher Education Group (HEG) is a research group within the Faculty of Management and Business at Tampere University. HEG focuses on the study of higher education and science from a public administration perspective. Through its teaching and research activities, the group seeks to enhance understanding of how governance, policy, management, and economic aspects shape the functioning of higher education institutions and transform the practices of academic work and science.

Research
Higher Education Group (HEG) has specialized in research topics of higher education management, governance and finance. HEG´s research activities are multidisciplinary and future-oriented. In addition to high-level scientific research, applicability of research results is important for us.

Studies
HEG provides teaching for three different student categories: for non-degree students, for master's degree students and for doctoral students. HEG's current programmes for these student groups are the following:
- Master's Degree Programme in Research and Innovation in Higher Education (MARIHE) 120 ECTS
- Study Programme in Administration and Management of Higher Education (KOHA) 40/50 ECTS
HEG provides continuing education for administrators, managers, professionals and specialists working the field of higher education. Study Programme in Administration and Management of Higher Education (KOHA) forms the core of HEG's non-degree continuing education services in Finland.
HEG´s doctoral education concentrates on themes of higher education policy, higher education management and governance as well as higher education finance. At the moment we have ca 20 research active doctoral students (full-time or part-time). If you are interested in doctoral studies with us, please contact HEG staff first. At the moment, there are limited possibilities to accept new doctoral students due to the supervisory capacity.

HEG produces and refines research information on higher education management, administration, finance and policy. We offer expert services (studies, research, consultation, expert advice) as a group and on an individual basis to higher education institutions and various stakeholders.
