For example, studying intermediate studies may require some completed basic studies. These are described on the Information about studies tab of the study unit under prior requirements.</p><p>When you have been admitted to the studies, you must enrol separately via the Sisu information system for the implementation of the unit of study and, for example if set, for a practise group of your choice. You will receive instructions on how to do this by e-mail after you have confirmed your acceptance of the study place by paying the required fee.</p>

After compleating the course, the student will be able to describe the connection between material engineering aspects (e.g. composition, strain, doping), and the main features of optoelectronic heterostructures, such as bandgap, carrier transport, and optical properties. Moreover, the student will be able to identify major classes of optoelectronics materials, and different regimes of carrier-photon interaction, which govern the operation of optoelectronic devices. <br><br>The student is able to solve problems related to the subject area by applying appropriate equations for deriving specific design guidelines, and to evaluate the basic functions of optolectronics heterostructures.<br><br>The course includes laboratory experiments. After passing the course, the student is able to:<br>- describe the connection between experiments and the theory presented at the lectures.<br>- perform specifiec measurements and to analyse and report their results.<br>
