Alternate implementations and modifications of PI, PD and PID controllers. Boss knowledge: i.e. why/what/how should be done for success in the business.</li><li>Mathematical Modelling. Equilibrium. Nonlinear control. Linearization. Sensitivity. &nbsp;Standard form of a linear state space model. Laplace transform. Polynomial and transfer function models. &nbsp;Simplification of block diagrams. Simulink simulation. Use of Control System Toolbox for modelling and simulation. </li><li>Controllability and observability. Minimum realization. Eigenvalues, poles, zeros. Internal and external stability. &nbsp;Inverse of a rational Laplace Transform. On convergence and boundedness of the signals. Reduced Routh Test. </li><li>Periodic phenomena and their frequency response analysis. Analysis of nominal and robust stability and performance concerning asymptotic accuracy, speed and damping.&#160; Frequency Response Design of Stability and Dynamics. </li><li>Derivation, tuning and implementation of compensator and controller structures with functional blocks. </li><li>Use of Matlab commands and Control System Toolbox for analysis of stability, accuracy and dynamics. </li><li>Seminars without examination needs on two more topics from the list:&#160; (1) Root Locus, (2) Nyquist Stability Theorem &amp;amp; Routh Test Cases 2 and 4.</li><li>&amp;#43;1cr from Part D: Parametric Optimal Control and Model Reduction. Experimental Modelling and Simple Model Approximations. Smith Predictor, 2DOF Control, Cascade Control, &nbsp;Signal Flow Graph. Assumes use of Symbolic Toolbox of Matlab, too. Seminar on Distributive Parameter Systems. </li><li>&amp;#43;1cr from Part E: Type 0 and Type 1 State Feedback Control. Full Order State Observers. Observer Based Control. Assumes use of Symbolic Toolbox of Matlab, too. Seminar on LTI and LPV Systems.</li></ul><h5>Complementary knowledge</h5><ul><li>Operator transfer functions. Transfer functions of Eigenfunctions. </li></ul><h5>Specialist knowledge</h5><ul><li>Analog electronics implementation of filters, compensators and controllers.</li></ul>

After the course the student knows some challenges, potentials and limitations of decision &amp;amp; control both within and beyond control engineering; knows typical control structures &nbsp;as well as connections and the roles nature of the control system components; can derive and approximate simple dynamical models in time domain. She/he can derive LTI state space models and transfer functions, simplify block diagrams and perform model conversations; masters typical system terms and concepts including performance specifications; is able to describe and analyze control systems and other dynamical systems; understands and can analyze and even limitedly design stability, damping, accuracy and speed of systems with standard methods; is able to analyze potential stability and performance risks/threats due to uncertainties and protect the system against them; masters a few synthesis and design techniques; can exploit use Matlab, Simulink, Control System Toolbox and Symbolic Toolbox or another similar enough software in the tasks mentioned; is able to communicate on the topics with students and designers educated elsewhere.

<h2>Prerequisites</h2>Limit, derivative, integral; complex numbers; vector, matrix, rank, &nbsp;det, inverse matrix, transpose etc. are needed. Repetition of them is &nbsp;supported.

Lectures, exercises, a mandatory LAB work, 3 mandatory PC exercises, 3 mandatory tests (sub-exams) during lecture weeks and 3-5 mandatory seminars (for 5-7 cr, respectively). Re-examination enabled through 2 sub-exams in both December 2023 and Spring 2024.
