This page contains information about course registration, course registration dates as well as instructions for resolving problems with course registration. Before you can register for teaching, you need to create at least one personal study plan (PSP). Instructions for making a PSP:

Note: When you take an exam in the EXAM system, always register for the exam's implementation in Sisu, so that the teacher can assess your performance in Sisu. 
 
The Open University has a different course registration procedure. Instructions for <a href="https://intra.tuni.fi/en/handbook?page=7794">registering for courses offered by the Open University </a>.

	<li>Open your study plan on the Structure of studies tab.</li>
	<li>Open the course information sheet of a course for whose teaching you want to register. You can open the information sheet by clicking the code of the course. (Alternatively, you can open the course information sheet from the Timeline tab.)</li>

	<li>Check that the version of the course contains the academic year for which you are registering. If the version of the course does not have the correct academic year, change the version. Switch to the version with the correct academic year by first selecting the version and then Switch to this version.</li>

	<li>Go to Completion methods tab.</li>
	<li>Select the completion method: choose the completion method first and then Select this completion method, so that the wanted completion method is marked Selected.</li>

	<li>Add the implementation you want to use to the Registration tab and your study calendar by clicking the Select button next to it.</li>
	<li>Select Proceed to registration from the notice at the top of the page. You will be taken to the Registration tab.</li>
	<li>Scroll down the Registration tab until you see 1. Register.</li>
	<li>Select Register under the implementation you want to register for.</li>

10. Check that the study right you want to use for registration is selected under Study right. If it is not, change it to the correct one.

11. Select the groups you want, if there are groups to select.

You will not be placed in a group that you have not chosen. When you sign up for a course with many groups, you are more likely to be accepted if you choose several groups. In general, you should choose all the groups for which have a time that suits you. If you prefer a particular group, please indicate your preference for that group. Even if the number of places for a teaching group is not shown when you register, the number of places on the implementation may limit the number of people who can be selected for the group.

Even if the implementation you sign up for seems to be full, it's still worth registering in most cases. Even if you are immediately rejected on the grounds that the course is full, it is possible that more places will be added and you will be accepted later. 
 
NB: Howselected groups are displayed in your Sisu calendar: As you select groups when registering, Sisu adds all selected groups into your study calendar. All the groups stay visible in your calendar, even after your registration has been confirmed and you have been placed in one group. You can remove the extra groups from your calendar by selecting the teaching in your study calendar and then selecting Other teaching groups and Show events in the calendar.

12. Below the group options, select Confirm. After you have confirmed your enrolment, it is ready to be processed. Your enrolment can be processed in one of two ways:

<ol>
	<li>Your registration is confirmed or rejected immediately based on whether you fulfil the basic requirements set for the implementation. If your registration is confirmed it is moved into 3. Registration processed on the Registration tab and marked with the text Your registration has been confirmed.</li>
	<li>Registrations are processed and your registration confirmed or rejected, after the implementation's registration time ends. This processing may be done manually and may take some time. During that time, your registration will appear under 2. registrations being processed Before the registration time ends, Sisu will show you a prediction of whether your registration would be confirmed. The prediction can often be incorrect as more students might still register and there might be selection criteria in use which Sisu cannot calculate into the prediction.</li>
</ol>

13. If you have confirmed your registration and it was rejected or you do not meet the conditions for registration, first look at the reason under Registration details.

If Sisu says you do not meet the conditions of Valid right to study and/or Present, make sure your academic year enrolment is in order. If you are enrolled for a full academic year and are only present for the second semester, you will need to be manually accepted after Sisu has first rejected your enrolment. Please contact the person responsible for teaching.

If you do not meet the Sisu requirement that the Course version is part of your primary study plan, first make sure that the course is in your primary study plan. If the course is in your study plan, see section 1 of the Problems with enrolling for a course section on this page.

Also make sure that there are places left in the implementation and at least one of the groups you have chosen.

If the reason for the rejection is unclear or wrong and you cannot resolve the situation yourself, contact the person responsible for the course. The contact person's details can be found in the Completion methods tab of the course information sheet under the relevant course.

Registering for course teaching in Sisu

You can cancel your registration for an implementation if the implementation has not yet started or if the implementation has started and has an additional period for cancellation. If it is no longer possible to cancel the registration, it should be replaced by the possibility to withdraw from the course.

1. Go to the Registration tab.

2. Scroll down the tab to Registration for the selected course unit. The registration should appear under Registration(s) being processed or Registration processed.

3. Under the implementation, select Cancel or Withdraw from this course.

Once registration for an implementation has closed but the implementation has not yet started, you may not be able to cancel your registration or withdraw from the implementation. In these situations, you should contact the person responsible for the implementation or wait until the implementation has started so that you can withdraw from it.

Registration start times and earliest registration end times are the most commonly used times. Registration end times vary more than start times between faculties, degree programmes, specialisations and even individual courses. Check the registration times for your courses and register in the student information system <a href="http://www.tuni.fi/sisu">Sisu</a>.

Note that registration for communication and language studies courses can start and end at different times than registration for other courses, <a href="https://intra.tuni.fi/en/studying/studying-0/communication-and-language-studies">more information on communication and language studies</a>.

Course enrolment dates 

If you have problems with enrolling for a course contact the person responsible for the teaching. You can find the responsible persons in Sisu on the course's info sheet on the Completion methods tab under the teaching in question. 
 
FAQ:

<ol>
	<li>Sisu says that I do not meet the "Course is included in the primary study plan" requirement even though the course is in my primary study plan. 
	 
	This problem can be caused by having a different version of the course in your study plan versus your enrolment. This can happen, for example, if you enrol in a teaching first and then switch the course to a newer version in your study plan. (<a href="https://intra.tuni.fi/en/handbook?page=28460">Instructions for switching versions in your study plan</a>) 
	 
	Check the course version in your study plan. A course with a new (2021-2022) code:

	Many courses have had their codes changed for academic year 2021-2022. In the new codes, parts of the code are separated with periods. Whereas, old codes do not include periods. In these cases you can tell by the code whether you have the same version in your study plan and enrolment. 
	 
	Check that your enrolment has the same course version as your study plan. An enrolment with an old (2020-2021) code, hence, here the course version is different from the picture above:

	Some courses have the same codes for 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. In these cases, you need to go a bit deeper to check that the course versions are the same. Open the course info both in your study plan and in your enrolments (study calendar) and check that the course version's academic years in the upper-left corner are the same. 
	 
	When your enrolment has a different course version from that in your study plan do the following: 
	 
	If enrolment for the teaching is still on and enrolments have not been confirmed yet: 1) Cancel and remove your enrolment in the study calendar. 2) Enrol again via your study plan. 
	 
	If enrolment for the teaching is still on and you have not been selected: 1) Remove your enrolment in the study calendar. 2) Enrol again via your study plan. 
	 
	If the enrolment period has ended contact the person responsible for the teaching. You can find the responsible persons in Sisu on the course's info sheet on the Completion methods tab under the teaching in question. 
	 </li>
	<li>Can I enrol for a course before I have created a personal study plan (PSP) or before my custom module has been accepted? 
	 
	<ul>
		<li>You must have a PSP before you can enrol. Possible custom modules that differ from the normal curriculum of your programme do not have to be approved.   
		 </li>
	</ul>
	</li>
	<li>I am registered as present for a single semester. How do I enrol for courses that last the entire academic year? 
	 
	<ul>
		<li>The functions in Sisu are based on the principle that students must be registered as present throughout a course in order to enrol for that course. For example, exams and other independent assignments are often marked to run throughout the year.  Nevertheless, you can enrol even if you are registered as present only for the autumn semester by following these steps: Enrol for the courses. Depending on the enrolment procedure, Sisu will display a message stating that your enrolment has been rejected or that you do not meet the requirements (attendance). However, Sisu will still store your enrolment and it will be visible to the teacher in charge. Contact the teacher and describe your circumstances. The teacher will be able to accept you onto the course in Sisu. 
		 </li>

	<li>What is meant with the message “If the enrolment period ended now...?

		<li>This notification indicates what your admission status would be if decisions about accepting students onto the course were made right now based on criteria that Sisu can automatically take into account. Please be aware that, for example, the Language Centre uses a range of course admission criteria which Sisu is unable to take into account automatically. Unfortunately, in this case the notification may not indicate your correct admission status. Your real status will not be revealed until the course participants are confirmed after the enrolment deadline.  
		 </li>

	<li>What is meant with the message “Some requirements are not fulfilled…”?
