The project examines the characteristics of key transnational child protection cases, exploring how they are identified within social work practice and the procedures associated with their management. The research further investigates the political and social contestations surrounding cross-border child protection and examines how the best interests of the child are determined in complex transnational circumstances. Particular attention is given to how authorities understand transnational child protection situations when interpreting and applying various regulations, how legislation corresponds with field realities, and the nature of professional networks involved in managing cross-border child protection cases.
