RESUrRECT - AiD: REnewable and SUstainable Rehabilitation of Cultural and HisToric buildings After Disaster is a project led by the University of Bologna.

The project partners are Tampere University, Tallinn University of Technology, TTK University of Applied Sciences and Vilnius Gediminas University of Technology.

More information about the project can be found on the RESUrRECT - AiD website, managed by the University of Bologna.

Goal

The goal of the RESUrRECT - AiD project is to develop a collaborative approach with Virtual Reality (VR) for teaching the reconstruction and sustainable renovation of historical and cultural buildings damaged by natural or man-made disasters.

This approach aims to enhance digital skills for representing damage effects, improve abilities in risk assessment and resilient retrofitting through virtual modelling, and advance artificial intelligence (AI) and VR skills for lean, safe, and sustainable rehabilitation design and construction.

All partners will carry out a case study of a historical or culturally significant building.

Working Packages

Working Package 2: Transnational analysis of digital representation (AR/VR) of building defects after disasters

Working Package 3: Transnational analysis of risk assessment and VR-based retrofit strategies for resilience

Working Package 4: Pilot collaborative teaching VR studio modules on after damage retrofit of Historic Building –case studies

Impact

The RESUrRECT - AiD project promotes international and innovative education for students.

Pilot teaching modules implemented by the collaborating universities help students of civil engineering and architecture understand how artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality can be used to design and build restoration projects of historic buildings after disasters in a collaborative virtual environment.

Funding source

RESUrRECT - AiD is funded by the European Union's Erasmus + programme with a total sum of 400 000 euros.
