Pluriversal AI: Language Justice, Infrastructures, and Global Inequalities examines how large language models reshape global communication while reinforcing structural inequities. Contemporary AI systems often reproduce colonial language hierarchies, rely on invisible data labour in the Global South, and marginalize Indigenous languages and knowledge systems.
Led by Tampere University, the project aims to develop the first global Toolkit for Inclusive and Pluriversal AI, co-created with partners in India and Indigenous communities across the world. Through roundtables, podcasts, policy briefs, and curriculum integration, the initiative advances language justice, digital sustainability, and equitable AI governance.
The project strengthens responsible digital transformation by linking research, pedagogy, and policy. It positions Tampere University as a pioneer in advancing inclusive, globally accountable AI infrastructures.
