The project aims to develop a carbon-neutral and cost-effective hybrid fishing vessel prototype for commercial inland and coastal fishing and to demonstrate the prototype in a real operating environment. The vessel combines an electric plug-in hybrid powertrain with a carbon-neutral energy source. The objective is to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions and improve energy efficiency in a cost-effective manner. The project takes a multidisciplinary approach, integrating sustainable energy solutions, technological development, operational efficiency, and consideration of user and stakeholder needs. The project employs literature reviews, surveys, technical analysis, prototype design and testing, cost-benefit analyses, and environmental impact assessments. The consortium includes Tampere University (coordinator), the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), and the Livia Vocational College.
