About me
I am a geologist by training and am currently pursuing a PhD in Earth Sciences from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), India. I do multiscale experiments to understand the crystal plastic deformation of hydrous minerals that governs the mechanics of earthquakes along plate boundaries and subduction zones on the Earth. I employ instrumented micro- to nanoindentation at room and elevated temperature conditions to understand the dehydration kinetics and its role in the deformation mechanism of hydrous minerals that plays a crucial role in the nucleation processes of earthquakes.
Responsibilities
At Tampere University, my primary role as an EDUFI visiting doctoral researcher is to conduct nanoindentation experiments on geomaterials.
Fields of expertise
Geophysics, Earthquake mechanics, Geodynamics, Experimental rock deformation, Micromechanics
