This Bachelor's degree in Textile and Material Engineering is a multidisciplinary programme. It focuses on different materials in textiles and manufacturing processes, sustainability, circular economy, new innovations, and business.
Your studies will progress from basic knowledge of materials to value chains of global textile industry as well as sustainability challenges of global business. You will study textile materials and manufacturing processes from fibres to textiles, including fibre and yarn spinning, knitting, weaving, nonwoven technologies, colouring and finishing, and product manufacturing. You will also study textile recycling, circular economy, industrial economics, and quality, supply chain and project management. Natural sciences, mathematics, chemistry, and physics give the base of engineering studies. The program is multidisciplinary, and free choice professional studies, for example, business, entrepreneurship, or environmental engineering, enlarge your knowledge and skills for working towards personal career goals.
Internship is an essential part of studies, and it supports your professional growth. It is target-oriented and supervised learning in the working life. The internship can also be completed outside Finland.
A semester or a whole academic year can be completed in the student exchange programme abroad. The whole degree programme is conducted in English.
Textile and material engineering professionals work in collaboration with other professionals creating a new sustainable textile industry and business. The degree programme will give you the ability to work globally as a textile engineering professional in production and development positions, project management, technical purchasing and sales, quality management, and supply chain management positions in the textile-related industry and business or in public organizations.
