Courses for exchange students at Tampere University
Courses offered in English for exchange students
You can search for available courses at Tampere University via the Curriculum. When browsing, please use the filter Target Group: Exchange Students to find courses open to exchange students. Note that our courses may have several completion options, including exam-only courses, fully online courses, and independent (self-study) studies. For each course, please check the completion options for the language of instruction and any required prerequisites. Use the Teaching unit or Field of education filters to find courses that match your academic background from your home university.
Teaching periods in autumn and spring
Make sure you understand the completion options and the teaching periods when the course is organised:
- Teaching periods I-II are in the autumn semester (August - December)
- Teaching periods III-IV are in the spring semester (January - May)
Some courses are offered on a continuous basis as independent (self-study) study options during all teaching periods, but most traditional courses with lectures will last for one or two periods.
Preliminary study plan for your exchange application
A preliminary study plan is required for the exchange studies application to Tampere University. Incoming exchange applicants should create this plan for guidance purposes at this stage. The new curriculum for the next academic year is usually published in summer, so the preliminary study plan may need to be based on the current or previous year's curriculum. Final course registrations typically take place approximately one month before the start of the exchange period and before the beginning of each teaching period - namely in early August and mid-September to early October for autumn semester courses, and in early December and mid-February to March for spring semester courses.
Incoming Erasmus+ students are expected to select the majority of courses in the subject field they have been nominated to. All other exchange students are expected to select the majority of their courses from one hosting campus, faculty and study field related to their studies at home university.
