TREY and Tampere University fly flags to support LGBTQ+ communities

On Monday 12 June, the Student Union of Tampere University (TREY) and Tampere University fly flags on three campuses in support of LGBTQ+ communities. The purpose of flying the flags during the Manse Pride week is to raise awareness of the diversity of sexuality and gender and to promote equality.

Tampere University is committed to the values of diversity and responsibility. Every member of the university community has the right to a safe work and study atmosphere and to be accepted as they are. The University recognises the significance of gender diversity and other social positions for equality.

−  Promoting equality and non-discrimination is the duty of every member of the university community. Diversity is also one of the values of Tampere University, says President Keijo Hämäläinen.

On Monday 12 June, rainbow flags are flown on Tampere University’s three campuses as part of the Manse Pride week. The aim is to raise awareness of the diversity of sexuality and gender and to promote equality.

−  Above all, Pride is a human rights event that reminds us that human rights belong to everyone. It is important to highlight our commitment to promoting non-discrimination at our university community, says Aino Halinen, TREY Board member responsible for equality.
