Tampere University was placed 45th in the newly announced results of the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings of 2024. THE magazine listed the world's best universities that have been operating for less than 50 years.

The Times Higher Education (THE) Young University 2024 ranking compares universities that have been operational for up to 50 years from around the world.

This year, Tampere University reached the 45th place out of 673 universities.

Tampere University — which started operations at the beginning of 2019 and was created by the merger of the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology — was included in the comparison for the fifth time. In the ranking years of 2020–2024, its success has ranged the positions of 34–54.

Tampere University got its best score for industry cooperation.

From Finland, the ranking also included Aalto University (21st) and the University of Vaasa (73rd).

The best score was received by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, now for the second time.

The ranking of young universities is based on the indicators used in the regular THE ranking, but less weight is given to reputation.
