In his doctoral dissertation, Tomi Kelo developed a model for security criteria development. Security criteria can be used in the design, implementation, maintenance and audit of critical communication and information systems. Only considering the pace the technology is evolving, new security criteria as well as updates to the existing ones are needed frequently, urging efficiency to criteria development projects. The study demonstrated that the presented model can be used as a tool to support security criteria development, enhancing the efficiency of development processes. The model can also be used for reviewing existing security criteria, highlighting issues to be addressed in criteria updates.
