The donation will be made to the Ukraine relief fund of the Finnish Red Cross and Unicef Finland. The Board of Tampere University Foundation discussed and approved the donation at its meeting on 5 March 2022.

Chair of the Board Jorma Eloranta says that the University, as the people in Finland, stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. “Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is a heinous crime. The war will also have a stifling effect on research and education. It was therefore easy for the Board of Tampere University Foundation to approve the proposal of President Mari Walls to make a donation through Unicef and the Red Cross. I also encourage the members of the Tampere Universities community to donate to the relief efforts.”
